It’s not hard to find a place to buy CBD or an article extolling its’ values. It is hard to find a simple, reliable explanation for what CBD is, and why it helps so many symptoms within the human body.
Everyone is using it. Some have tried with no noticeable results, while others have found relief from decades of pain, exhaustion, anxiety and so many other challenges affecting their quality of life. Why the difference in results? How does it potentially help such varying symptoms of the human body?
It's not a cure-all, but it does deserve its' newfound attention.
CBD is one of hundreds of cannabinoids present in the cannabis plant. Until recently, most of us had only heard of the cannabinoid THC, the psychedelic and psychotropic compound made famous by Woodstock. If you grew up in the 60s , 70s, or even 80’s, Cheech and Chong along with some of our classmates taught us a thing or two. But CBD and its’ other cannabinoid cousins offer vast benefits, without the psychedelic effects of "wacky weed." CBD is slightly psychoactive but will not cause you to get high. While the acronym CBD has almost become a “brand” in and of itself, (think “Kleenex”, or “Jello”), ideally you want a whole plant compound including all of the cannabinoids.
Cannabinoids interact with a network of receptors within our body. Discovered just a few decades ago, this network is called the endocannabinoid system, or the ECS. Compounds, or cannabinoids, created by our bodies are referred to as endo (within) cannabinoids. Cannabinoids from the plant are called phyto (plant) cannabinoids. “Disrupted endocannabinoid signaling has been associated with many disorders, including diabetes, hypertension, infertility, liver disease, and more,” according to The Scientist. When ALL of the cannabinoids work in tandem as originally created by nature, the results in the body are far more effective than isolating a specific cannabinoid, such as CBD or CBN.
When dosed consistently and with the advice of an educated professional, full or broad spectrum CBD, including all of the plant cannabinoids can help balance an out of whack ECS, thereby putting the body into homeostasis, or perfect balance. When balance occurs, the body can start to heal itself as originally intended.
So this, my friends, is why we have a cannaissiance among us. Deregulation in late 2018, has prompted a hemp rush and the subsequent call for research and education. Industry insiders with a concern for the consumer and beyond profit are calling for more education and regulation. Rightly so.

and get it in your body!
